The main fields of Geotechnical Division research activities are: development of laboratory and field testing methods, seepage analysis, stability and deformation analyses of earth structures, liquefaction of soils, embankments on soft soils, improvement methods of soft subsoil, waste management and landfills of municipal and industrial wastes, application of numerical analysis in geotechnical engineering, soil remediation, monitoring systems for embankment dams, quality control systems.

The main fields of Technology and Engineering Management Division research activities are: development of new technologies in engineering, application and testing of new materials (e.g. geotextiles and geomembranes), development of numerical procedures in management for engineers, time and cost analysis of investments, management information systems and database in engineering.

 The main fields of Hydrogeology Division research activities are: investigations of hydrogeological conditions (geomorphology, quaternary geology), modelling of groundwater flow, protection and monitoring of ground water, determination of hydrogeological parameters in field and laboratory investigations.
